Envelope now supports building with other people. You can invite someone to an app, make your edits in your own copy, and merge them into the shared app when they are ready.
Here is how it works
Invite people
Open an app in the builder and select Collaboration. Create an invite link and send it. When the other person opens the link, they join the app as an editor.
Example: you start a recipe app, send the link to a friend, and now both of you can open it in the builder.

Work in a draft
When you edit a shared app, your changes go into a personal draft. The shared app does not change until you merge. Two editors can work at the same time without one overwriting the other.
Example: you rewrite the home screen while your teammate changes the theme color. Neither edit reaches the shared app until each of you merges.
Merge with a preview
Before you merge, the builder shows the diff of what will change. You review it, then confirm.
Merge to shared app
These changes from your draft will become the next version of the shared app. Visitors are unaffected until the owner publishes.
function Header() { return
My Recipes
; return
Weeknight Recipes
;} const THEME = { accent: '#e11d48' };The merge preview shows the diff before you confirm
If the shared app moved ahead of your draft since you forked it, the merge stops and shows you what changed. You start a fresh draft from the latest version and reapply your edits. Your current draft is left alone.
Example flow:
- You fork a draft from version 4.
- A teammate merges, so the shared app becomes version 5.
- You open Merge. The builder detects the drift and shows the version 5 changes.
- You start a new draft from version 5 and merge from there.
See who is here
A presence bar shows who else has the app open right now. When a teammate merges, your view refreshes to the new version so you keep building on top of their work.

Who can do what
Access is set per app. The owner can invite people and remove them. Editors can build in their own drafts and merge. When the owner removes a collaborator, that person loses access to the app and to their draft.
Try it
Open one of your built apps, select Collaboration, and send a link. The person who opens it can start building with you in a few seconds.
